Brand new Powell "Skull & Sword" deck in the old skool "Geegah" shape...no idea what geegah means or stands for!

Absolute classic graphics from Powell on a mid 80's shaped deck

Like all their 80's graphics this was designed by Vernon Courtlandt Johnson (VCJ) as was the iconic Winged Ripper in red which is on the top.

Directional shape with medium/mellow concave, short almost flat nose, a front rocker profile & a steep full sized squared tail kick.

A great larger sized cruiser deck or genuine 80s ride but also a classy wall hanger for your Powell collection.

Some History from Powell:

In 1986 jump ramps were all the rage. Easy to build, portable and fun to launch off of. Unfortunately, decks were snapping left and right. Powell-Peralta deck returns were so high the company sought ways to make decks stronger and more resistant to jump breaks. One solution was Bonite construction. Another was the "Gee-Gah" shape which had bumps to reinforce the break zone area. Why "Gee-Gaw?" Ask Chris Iverson. This shape was also used for the Skull & Sword graphic. They were produced between 1987 and 1988.

About the art:

The Rodriguez "Skull & Sword" deck was the first pro signature deck graphic produced by Powell-Peralta.  The later versions no longer had Ray's name on but Powell kept on rolling with the graphic as it was so popular. The graphic was conceived by Ray and Illustrated by V.C. Johnson with art direction from George Powell in 1979.

Powell-Peralta™ Re-Issue Construction:
Powell-Peralta re-issue decks are close reproductions of their 1980’s counterparts, featuring the original Pro graphics and shape, top graphic logo and spoon nose concave. They are manufactured by our partners in Mexico or in our Ventura skateboard factory, which is still directed by a few of the same craftsmen that made them originally.

NOTE :  This deck is silver dipped  The side on image is just to show the concave.  The colour is wrong on that picture,

Set Up suggestions:

Trucks - Indy 159s, Gullwing Pro III or Bullet 150s for a budget option. Note - you need trucks with the "old" holes.

You could get away with 169s if you like your wheels "out" a little.

Wheels - Powell: Rat Bones, G-Bones; Santa Cruz: Slime Balls, Big Balls; OJs : Street; Dogtown : K9s, etc.

Transport Wheels - Santa Cruz "Slimeball OG"

If you build one with Powell "Mini Cubics" wheels though we'd suggest knocking the trucks back to around 129/139/149 sized.
